I was thinking of starting my own business and came across a few ideas that seem to be “recession proof”. Vending machines generally have to be restocked about once a week. You can restock your machines evenings after work or on weekends. You don’t have to leave your current job while starting your new business. This gives the vending business a huge advantage over other business opportunities for most people. You keep your salary and benefits while starting profitable business which you can expand over time. Your goal, of course, is to be able to give up your job and operate your business full time.

Metal bed frames didn’t become popular until the industrial revolution. In the 1800s, iron and brass beds were sold as an alternative to wood. They makers used the fact that metal was not subject to insect infestation as a selling point. If children shared a room, it was not unusual for them to sleep in a 4ft bed with their siblings. Few children had the luxury of a bed to themselves.
Today, iron and brass beds are available in larger sizes. Most antique metal beds are 4ft beds although single beds are also common. Larger sizes are rare and were probably made by custom order.
